Who We Are & Why We Do This
Worthy Steps was born from a deep conviction that every Filipino child, regardless of income, deserves access to quality mental health and developmental support.
Worthy Steps was founded by Ruth, a therapist in training and advocate for children with special needs. Through her work with families and her experience as a mother to a child with profound, nonverbal autism, she saw how many are left without access to the care they need.
From this, Worthy Steps was created to build a safe and inclusive space where children are supported, understood, and given the opportunity to grow.
This mission goes beyond disability. Worthy Steps exists for anyone who feels unseen or uncertain of their worth, offering support, guidance, and a path toward healing and confidence.
Because true care goes beyond therapy. It restores dignity and reminds every person that they are worthy.
Making Therapy Accessible for Every Family
Worthy Steps was founded on a simple but powerful belief: therapy should not be a luxury. In a country where the average family cannot afford even one session per week, we set out to change the equation.
We offer sliding-scale fees, community-sponsored therapy packages, free resources, and online access so that geography and income are no longer barriers to healing and growth.
Our programs are grounded in evidence-based practice and delivered with deep respect for Filipino culture, family values, and the unique journeys of every child we serve.

How Worthy Steps Began
Ausome Son and his Ausome Mom
Worthy Steps was not born from convenience or opportunity. It was born in a place many parents know too well, uncertainty, exhaustion, and quiet heartbreak.
As a mother raising a child with profound, nonverbal autism, Ruth stepped into a world she was never prepared for. The early days were not filled with answers, but with questions. Not with support, but with silence. Each step forward felt uncertain, and at times, unbearably heavy.
There were moments when the weight of it all felt too much. Moments when giving up felt like the only way to breathe again.
But even in that breaking point, something deeper began to grow.
Through faith, and in finding Lifting Christ, she discovered a calling she could no longer ignore. In the middle of the pain, she found strength. In the silence, she found direction. She learned, adapted, and kept going, even when the system overlooked children like her own.
What began as survival slowly became something more. It became purpose.
And from that purpose, Worthy Steps was born, not just as a service, but as a promise.
A promise that no parent would have to walk this path alone.
A promise that no child would be unseen or misunderstood.
A promise that love, guided by faith and action, can build something lasting.
Today, Worthy Steps exists to create what was once missing: a space where children are supported in their potential, families find understanding, and every small step is honored as something truly worthy.
Our Core Values
Every decision we make is guided by these principles.
We approach every child and family with warmth, patience, and genuine care, never judgment.
Financial barriers should never prevent a child from thriving. We find ways to make care available to everyone.
Our programs are grounded in proven methodologies, such as ABA, CBT, and trauma-informed care, always tailored to the individual.
Healing happens in families. We involve parents and caregivers as active partners in every child's progress.
We build a village, connecting families, volunteers, and advocates so no one walks this path alone.
We speak up for the rights of children with disabilities in schools, communities, and policy spaces.
